09.00am, depart for Sungai Lembing. Sungai Lembing is situated North West from Kuantan, an hour drive that passes by palm plantations etc. Once famous for its tin mines and the most talked about in being the largest underground tin mine in the world. Sungai Lembing today has become a township only with the "diehard:. Visit the old market square, see the Chinese clan hourses, local restaurant famous for their home-make noodles "Sungai Lembing Mee". Pop into a home bakery, still using wood-fired ovens, for making coconut biscuits & cakes, etc. Explore this quaint town,see one of the entrances leading to the underground mine,see how tin is mined today using the dry - excavation open cast menthod, high hanging bridges still used to cross the Lembing River during the rainy season and the Tin Mine Musuem which houses the equipments used. In samples and display of the netword of tunels spreading over 785 kilometres underground. |
